I SEE ORANGE is a Mexican-led British band and the first ever non-Japanese band to sign with JPU Records. Fronted by Giselle Medina, I See Orange is an electric fusion of 90’s Nirvana-esque grunge and contemporary fast-paced rock like The Warning.
Their new song “Doll Guts’ will is their debut with JPU Records. The single is the band’s first with the British record label but also only the sixth overall release of the young band’s including an EP that released in 2023.
“‘Doll Guts’ is about the discomfort of being human. It’s an expressive release of frustration toward unwanted emotions, wrapped in a contrast of the sweet and the grotesque. Hence the title; it’s cute, but a bit messed up,” Medina said about the new song.
The accompanying music video was edited by Medina and James Smith who also filmed the music video. It was also directed by Charlie Hart, drummer for the band. The video was made in the famous venue, The Victoria.
I SEE ORANGE’s fast-paced electric and classic rock-Joan Jett sound were enough to sway JPU Records into a large first step: their first non-Japanese act signing. Known championing and highlighting Japanese musicians and bands across the globe and especially in the U.K., I See Orange caught the attention of JPU Records founder Tom Smith.
He went on to say about the band: “I’ve always said that for a band to join JPU Records they have to spark some kind of feeling inside me. The moment I saw I SEE ORANGE live, that feeling hit me like a ton of bricks. I know JPU’s audience is going to love this band—they’re so much fun on stage and they embody everything I love about rock music. I see a bright future for I SEE ORANGE, and I’m thrilled they wanted to take the journey forwards with us.”
The three-piece is currently slated to be performing as one of the two live bands at the “Japan Underground: 15th Anniversary Come Back” show in London on November 17th; they’ll be joined by one other band, yet to be announced, at the JPU Records’ show.
I SEE ORANGE are Giselle Medina, Charlie hart, and Cameron Hill. Follow the band on Instagram for more updates on tour dates and new music.
