Ohmme Announce Debut Album and Share Video and Tour Dates

The singer-songwriters from Chicago have announced the release of their debut album Parts out August 24 via Joyful Noise Recordings, along with the video for their single “Icon” and the dates for their North American tour.

Ohmme is composed of Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart. Both of them are classically trained musicians and established players within the Chicago music scene, according to a press release.

“The band started because we knew we could sing well together and we wanted to make some noise with the guitar,” said Cunningham in the press release.

“Sima and I are both trained classical pianists and we know many of the sonic spaces keyboards have to offer. Since we were interested in experimenting and creating something different from what we had both done in the past, we chose guitar as our outlet for this band. We wanted to create both new and uncomfortable parameters for ourselves to force us into a different creative space,” added Stewart.

Their debut album, being heavily concentrated on guitar, draws influences from Kate Bush and Brian Eno’s Here Come the Warm Jets to jazz and improvisational music.

The duo will be beginning their North American tour next month.
