Foxygen Announce New Album

Foxygen, the band of Sam France and Jonathon Rado, released “Livin’ a Lie,” their newest track to announce their new album: Seeing Other People. The album will be out April 26th via Jagjaguwar Records. The album takes the band in a new direction being entirely written and produced by the band in Sonora Recorders in Los Feliz, CA.

The album was engineered and mixed by Shawn Everett and features legendary guitarist Jim Keltner.

The album name comes from the common phrase, “maybe we should see other people.” And the album follows that sentiment exactly; it is a departure from the norm of the music production and its promotion. As the band’s Sam France said in a letter, the band isn’t breaking up because they were never a band.

“Is this the break-up album? Is the band breaking up?

Why does everybody keep …  asking that? We would like to compassionately ask our management, our fans, and everyone else not to worry themselves. No. We’re not breaking up. We’re not a band and never were.”

France also explained how Seeing Other People is a recounting of the band living “rock cliches” in a small amount of time and now departing from it; the album for that promises to be a departure.

“Goodbye to the drugs, to the partying. Goodbye to my twenties now, Goodbye to my Saint Laurent-model-body. Goodbye to the touring circus — that’s right, no more shows or tours for a while. Goodbye, hopefully, to the anxiety attacks. Goodbye to beating myself up because I didn’t fit into those leather pants anymore. Fuck it. Goodbye to the facilities. And goodbye the leeches in my life,” said France.
