Way Out West Fest Rides Into Downtown El Paso: Gallery 9.28.24

The country music festival held in downtown El Paso, TX returned this weekend featuring Chase Bryant, Kassi Ashton, Trea Landon, and Billy Currington. Cowboys and cowgirls flooded onto San Antonio St. behind the Abraham Chavez Theatre with large sections of vendors.

San Antonio St. and Santa Fe St. carried a pocket of cowboys and vaqueros alike for country music fans from El Paso and beyond. Thousands of people gathered to here the lineup filled with large acts like Billy Currington, Chase Bryant, and Kassi Ashton, as well as local acts.

Billy Currington and Chase Bryant are two of country music’s biggest and established stars, but this year’s iteration of Way Out West Fest also offered some of the hottest rising stars as well. Currington, known for hits like “People Are Crazy”, “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer”, and “Must Be Doin Something Right”, closed out the festival.

WOW Fest also featured a wide variety of activities ranging from a “Best Margarita” contest and a “Best chili” contest which left an impression on the weekend’s opener.

The festival kicked off with Georgia native Trea Landon.

He welcomed the crowd as fans began walking through the two entrances to the festival. It was his first time performing in the Sun City.

The show continued with Kassi Ashton. Her debut album Made From the Dirt, released the prior week. Her performance saw the sun set and by the time she was wrapping up, the entirety of San Antonio St. where the Bud Light Main Stage was set, festival-goers now filled the entirety of the street close the second entrance on W Overland St. Thousands of fans were dancing along, tapping leather boots to pavement with drinks in hand.

Chase Bryant took over with a now packed crowd excited to hear the music from his newly released EP Cayo Del Grullo.
