LA artist Gold Star, aka Marlon Robenreither, just released his single, “Baby Face,” via Brooklyn Vegan. This is the third single from the artist’s upcoming album, Uppers and Downers, which will be out September 7 via Autumn Tone Records. The singles “Half The Time” and “Chinatown” are available to stream now. Gold Star’s U.S. and U.K. tour will start in mid-July.
According to a press release, Uppers and Downers talks about the highs and lows of life as well as everything that is in the spaces in-between.
“The idea was to achieve a deeper scope, a more dynamic range: slow songs, fast songs, less genre specific, capturing all the moods,” said Robenreither in a press release.
While creating the album, the artist drew from his own life as well as “conversations with friends to sing of the deeply personal and observational, with Los Angeles serving as the rich, underlying connective tissue,” said the press release.
Gold Star originated in 2013, and it’s Robenreither’s solo project. Uppers and Downers will be the his third album after Big Blue (2017) and Dark Days (2015).
