Girl Friday Strike Back With Powerful New Single

The L.A. rockers are back with their first release since their triumphant 2020 debut album, Androgynous Mary, released through Hardly Art. The new single “I’m Impossible“, out now with an accompanying video, is part of a double A-Side release with “You’re Getting A Dog” which will be out July 7th.

Band members Vera Ellen and Libby Hsieh commented on the new release saying “we wrote these songs in the confines of our bedrooms divided by the great Pacific Ocean. We passed them back and forth from New Zealand to Los Angeles, like love letters. They binded us when all of our strings felt loose. They are the place where we met and danced with our shoes on the wrong feet. They like you and we hope you like them. From our bedrooms to yours.”

Girl Friday are Vera Ellen, Libby Hsieh, Virginia Pettis, and Sierra Scott. The band formed upon Ellen met Hsieh playing bass on the couch of a friend’s in UCLA. Pettis and Scott joined the project soon after.

The chance meeting was all it took before “the fledgling group’s chemistry was undeniable”, as the band’s bio page says on Hardly Art.
