IAN SWEET Shares New Single Ahead of Album Release

With her new album SUCKER due in a few weeks on November 3rd, IAN SWEET aka Julian Medford, shares “Smoking Again”, a new track with sweet booming vocals and a serene high tempo. With this new song, we get a self-described “pretty dramatic” power-pop tune.

SWEET described the song as carrying a theme of someone putting obstacles in their own way, almost self-destructive but more trite. “Oh i’ve been a mess / Haven’t slept / Started smoking again / And i’m tryin to grow my hair out / But i keep cuttin’ my bangs / Every time you say my name”, she sings calmly illustrating one of those self-imposed obstacles.

SUCKER cover art work.

SUCKER– out with Polyvinyl- will be the follow-up to her break out album Show Me How You Disappear and second with the label. About making the album, SWEET said “I knew I wanted to explore and get out of my comfort zone. I forced myself to make things on the spot, in the moment and not overthink it too much.”

“Smoking Again” is the third single from the album following “Emergency Contact” and “Your Spit”. Now she’ll start some tour dates including a performance at the Pitch Fork Music Festival London.
