Khruangbin and Leon Bridges announced their collaborative EP, Texas Sun, last month in December. The EP will be out on February 7th via Dead Oceans in partnership with Columbia Records and Night Time Stories Ltd.
The Texas artists, Khruangbin from Houston and Leon Bridges from Fort Worth, first toured together in 2018 and that’s when this EP really started.
“We try not to have too much of an intention, because it gets in the way of what the music wants to do,” says Laura Lee, bassist of Khruangbin. “If you just let the music do what it’s supposed to do, it will reveal itself. We tried to take that same approach with Leon. For us, it was opening up our world to have another person in it. But all of it feels like Texas to me.”
